The story of Mahabharata gives many ever memorable pictures of contrasts of character

and situation. Characters like Dhritarashtra, Gargi Bhishma, Yudhisthra. Vidhura, Karna,

Arjuna, Dronacharaya, Bhima, Draupadi and others stand in clear distinction and sharp

juxtaposition. Noble and evil passion, virtue and wickedness, truth and treachery vanity,

ambition and nobility and fair-play, conflicts and contradictions. the whole gamut of

human emotions and passions all these have been presented in an indelible manner.
